Protecting A Dream Service Listing

These offerings bring the themes of Protecting a Dream to life through immersive, age-appropriate, and community-centered experiences. Designed for students, educators, families, and community partners, each workshop, circle, and presentation blends storytelling, reflection, dialogue, and creative expression to cultivate leadership, resilience, empathy, and shared responsibility. Together, they create spaces where young people and adults alike can examine identity, confront challenge, and practice what it means to protect their own dreams, while helping others protect theirs.

STUDENT WORKSHOPS & CIRCLES

  1. Drum Major for Justice: Rhythm, Leadership & Purpose: An interactive, high-energy workshop using group percussion and rhythm to explore leadership, justice, and community responsibility. Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Drum Major for Justice” speech, participants reflect on how they can lead with service, humility, and courage.

  2. Dream Protector Circles for Youth (Ages 8–18): Small-group circles that bring the themes of Protecting a Dream to life through storytelling, journaling, discussion, and creative expression. Youth explore what it means to protect their dreams and support the dreams of others.

  3. Strength Without Harm: Healthy Masculinity & Character: Age-appropriate sessions that redefine strength, leadership, and masculinity through empathy, accountability, respect, and emotional awareness.

  4. Rising Through Adversity: Resilience & Courage: Story-based workshops grounded in the life lessons of Chief Bill Logan Jr. and Dr. Marting Luther King Jr., helping youth reflect on perseverance, setbacks, and personal growth.

  5. Dream Keeper Peer Circles: Ongoing small-group conversations where students name their dreams, identify challenges, practice mutual encouragement, accountability, and action planning.

EDUCATOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  1. Teaching Protecting a Dream in the Classroom: Professional learning sessions that equip educators to use the book, discussion questions, and companion materials across literacy, social studies, SEL, and Black History Month programming.

  2. Leading Courageous Conversations with Children: Guidance and facilitated dialogue for educators on addressing race, equity, identity, and leadership in developmentally appropriate, child-centered ways.

  3. Educator Reflection Circles: Facilitated spaces for teachers and staff to reflect on their own identities, leadership roles, and experiences while building community and shared language.

 

SCHOOL-WIDE & DISTRICT-WIDE EXPERIENCES

  1. Protecting a Dream Assemblies & Interactive Presentations: Engaging assemblies that combine storytelling, visuals, and audience participation to introduce the book’s themes at scale.

  2. Signature Events & Commemorations: Customized programming aligned with MLK Day, Black History Month, Literacy Month, or district-wide equity initiatives.

  3. Student-Led Legacy Projects: Support for student performances, presentations, or creative projects inspired by Protecting a Dream.

SUSTAINABILITY & INTEGRATION MODELS

  1. Dream Protector Integration Pathways: Embedding workshops into existing district initiatives such as SEL, restorative practices, or culturally responsive teaching.

  2. Protecting a Dream Week: A week-long framework integrating readings, discussions, creative activities, and assemblies across grade levels.

  3. Train-the-Trainer Model: Capacity-building for educators, counselors, or administrators to sustain Dream Protector Circles beyond initial facilitation.

FAMILY ENGAGEMENT WORKSHOPS & CIRCLES

  1. Family Dream Protector Circles: Evening or weekend sessions where children and caregivers engage together in conversations about dreams, resilience, and family legacy.

  2. Family Legacy Nights: Passing Down the Dream: Intergenerational gatherings blending storytelling, dialogue, and hands-on activities. Families create Dream Keeper Journals or family pledges while strengthening connection and shared purpose.

LAW ENFORCEMENT & COMMUNITY HEALING

  1. The Bridge Between the Badge & the Block: Cultural Intelligence for Modern Policing: Drawing on decades of experience in DEI and community engagement, this workshop supports officers and leaders in understanding identity, race, and cultural context in their daily work.

  2. From Pain to Purpose: Restorative Healing Circles: Guided circles bringing together officers, youth, and community members to share stories, listen deeply, and build mutual understanding using Protecting a Dream as a relational entry point.

YOUTH, ADULT & INTERGENERATIONAL WORKSHOPS

  1. From Struggle to Strength: Identity, Resilience & Purpose: Workshops exploring how identity, adversity, and purpose shape individuals and communities - helping participants transform challenge into growth.

  2. Rooted & Rising: Building Healthy Racial & Ethnic Identity: Facilitated spaces for participants to explore heritage, culture, and identity, moving from internalized bias or shame toward pride, dignity, and purpose.
